Introduction:

When an individual is wounded (or has an operation), a set of complex biochemical events takes place in a closely orchestrated cascade to repair the damage.

Platelets play a major role in this cascade by releasing inflammatory factors that start the process, as well as growth factors, which are instrumental in the process of wound healing.

OmniMed has new technology available called ReGen PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). The concept is “if a few are good, then a lot may be better”, therefore increasing the concentration of platelets at a wound may promote more rapid and better healing.

The Regen PRP- Kit allows safe collection of the patients own blood components yielding 2- 6 times more platelet concentrate than normal blood. When applied to the wound it significantly and efficiently accelerates tissue healing and cell rejuvenation.1.

The Benefits of Autologous PRP include:

1. Tissue regeneration and rejuvenation.
2. Non-allergenic because it is a ‘body own’ physiological product vs. an animal-derived or human-donor (allo) products.
3. Elimination of donor transmissible infections.
4. Biological glue for tissue adhesion especially in skin flaps, bone grafts and trauma.
5. Haemostasis inter-surgery, post-surgery or post-traumatic.
6. Increase in the rate of the healing process (reduction in wound time) following surgery or trauma. Beta- endorphins present in plasma contribute to a reduction in post surgery or trauma pain.

Applications include:

1. Wound Healing: all types of chronic wounds.
2. Plastic Surgery: dermal volumetric regeneration and rejuvenation/ Mesotherapy for Face, Neck and Hands.
3. Dermatology: Dermal volumetric regeneration and rejuvenation/ Mesotherapy for face, neck and hands.
4. Dentistry and Oral Surgery: Dental implants
5. Maxillo-Facial Surgery: When mixed with crushed coral or crushed bone fragments it forms a putty ideal for packing or structural reconstructions (as in mandibular reconstructions, maxillofacial procedures, FESS procedure, dental implants)
