Introduction:

Stryker Corporation is a leader in the worldwide orthopaedic market and is one of the world’s largest medical device companies. Stryker delivers results through a wide range of products as well as patient handling and emergency medical equipment.

The Colorado Micro-Dissection Needle is a monopolar electrode with an ultra-sharp tungsten tip for precise soft-tissue dissection.

Features and Benefits:

  • Patented ultra-sharp tip for clean, precise soft-tissue dissection.
  • Heat-resistant tungsten alloy maintains tip sharpness.
  • Effective at low power settings.
  • Highly polished tip to facilitate cleaning.

What makes the Colorado Needle so different?

Since its introduction to the surgical market more than fifteen years ago, the Colorado MicroDissection Needle has become a standard instrument for precision electrosurgery for many surgical specialties. We are often asked, “What makes the Colorado Needle different?”

Design

The primary feature of the Colorado MicroNeedle is the ultra-sharp tungsten tip. The tip delivers the wave-form from the electrosurgery generator to a very small spot. This allows the use of extremely low wattages, resulting in less tissue necrosis, precision cutting and cautery, and reduced smoke.
Tungsten, with its extremely high melting point (>3400°C) provides a heat resistant tip that maintains sharpness compared to stainless steel tips that dull rapidly in service.
The red insulation on the Colorado Needle is a high-temperature polymer which is not only tough but has extremely high dielectric strength. The Colorado Needle insulation is very effective and our standard design leaves only 3 mm of tungsten exposed at the tip, which prevents accidental burns and allows deep access without unwanted tissue trauma.

Most Used MicroNeedles

Colorado Needles are used in a wide variety of surgical procedures. Listed below are our most popular MicroNeedles and their most widely reported uses.

N103A

The majority of operations using the Colorado MicroNeedle use the N103A. This “all-purpose” MicroNeedle is often used in such procedures as:

  • Blepharoplasty
  • Canthoplasty and –pexy
  • Otoplasty
  • Bicoronal Flap
  • Skin Incision for Hip
  • Incising Temporal Fascia
  • Tram Flap
  • Hand Surgery and Muscle
  • Facial Procedures
  • Facial Lesions
  • Cleft Lip Revision
  • Rhinoplasty
  • Turbinectomy
  • Cleft Palate
  • Foot Surgery
  • Neck Dissection
  • Forehead Corrugator
  • Gingivectomy
  • Spine/Rhizotomy
  • Paediatric Plastics
  • Palatal Donor Grafts
  • Abdominal Surgery
  • Coronal Incision

N104A

Some surgeons prefer the longer 4 cm MicroNeedle over the 3 cm N103A. In addition to the above procedures, this tip is often used for tonsillectomy, breast reduction and palatoplasty for snoring.

Other Needles:

E1133 - 7.5cm 45° angle for orthopaedic surgery and tonsillectomy.

STRE1033 - 7.5cm straight for orthopaedic surgery, abdominoplasty, skull base surgery, neck dissection and tonsillectomy.

STRE1044 - 10cm straight for orthopaedic surgery, abdominoplasty, skull base surgery, neck dissection and tonsillectomy.
